CERES Wooden Spoon Carving Workshop
Events Brunswick East, Moreland, Victoria
18 Oct 2025 to 6 Dec 2025 Monthly Event
Join a uniquely hands-on workshop at CERES where you’ll learn to carve your own wooden spoon or utensil by hand. Under the guidance of skilled instructor Alma Arriaga, you’ll explore different sustainably sourced timbers and pick the perfect piece for your project, plan and sketch your design (spoon, spatula, butter spreader or “spurtle”). Whittle, shape, and finish your piece during a relaxing, immersive day in nature. After the session, you’ll get to take home your own heirloom-quality creation, made by you.
Workshops run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and accommodate all skill levels: whether you’ve never held a carving knife before or already tinker in the woodshop.
Set in a lush urban eco-park on the banks of the Merri Creek, CERES is one of Melbourne’s most loved community spaces. Between sessions, enjoy coffee and seasonal food at the Merri Café, browse the CERES Nursery and Grocery for plants and organic produce, or wander through gardens, markets and bushland trails.
Located just 15 minutes from Melbourne’s city centre, CERES is free to enter and offers visitors a glimpse of sustainable living in action – a place to connect with nature, creativity and community.
