The Appreciation of Naturals with Gaye Nieuwenhof

Classes, Lessons, Workshops and Talks

2 May 2026 to 3 May 2026 Once Only Event

Join Port Arlington artist Gaye Nieuwenhof on an exploration with humble materials such as calico, muslin, brown paper, magazine papers, charcoal, ink, coffee and tea staining, string, embroidery cotton and white ceiling paint to magic into being some organic tactile pieces, which will focus on landscape as the theme.

You will use a gel press and an etching press to further explore imagery of the natural environment. These can be further deconstructed and reconstructed to realize your vision.

Gaye Nieuwenhof is an Australian artist working with mixed-media. Her inspiration is sourced from the environment where those elements she loves to include in her work can be readily found. Texture, colour, layers both clandestine and exposed in a process driven work flow. The imagined inner world is expressed through printmaking, painting, collage, monotypes on both cloth and paper and some slow stitch. She was a ceramic artist in a past life and still dabbles with pit firing pots on occasion. She has been making art all her life and is eternally searching for the deep learning that comes from her sense of place.
