Southern Rail Trail Running Festival

The 2026 Southern Rail Trail Running Festival returns to South Gippsland. The event features distances ranging from a 2 kilometres Family Dash to a 100 kilometres ultra-marathon, showcasing the scenic Great Southern Rail Trail, with Leongatha serving as a central hub.

The courses feature forests, rolling farmland, and trestle bridges along the Great Southern Rail Trail. The 100 kilometres and 72 kilometres routes go along the coastal to country scenic routes starting in Port Welshpool. The 10 kilometre and 5 kilometre out-and-back courses start and finish at the Leongatha rail trail precinct.

Entries are available through Race Roster. This second edition of the annual event follows the inaugural 2025 race, aiming to provide options for seasoned ultra-runners, marathoners, and families alike.
