Guildford Post Office Building

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

Built in 1897, this historic building is a prominent landmark in Guildford. A site on two of the four heritage walk trails, its location is part of the Meadow Street historic precinct. Close to the Guildford Colonial Gaol, Swan Valley Visitor Centre and Stirling Square.

Examine the Victorian Italianate architectural style and see if you can spot where alterations were carried out in 1901. The beautiful clock and bell tower were added four years after the building was completed. Whilst the bell still remains in the tower, it is no longer rung.

The building is located on the site of an old convict depot hospital in the heart of the charming town of Guildford, just 20 minutes train or drive east of Perth. The entire town has been classified by the National Trust and is on the state register of heritage places.
