Kwobardak Boodja – Beautiful Country Mural

Galleries, Museums and Collections

Visit the Swan Valley Visitor Centre in Guildford to enjoy Kwobardak Boodja – Beautiful Country, a Welcome to Country mural by local Indigenous Australian artist, Chloe Calyon.

The mural is a celebration of Noongar culture and heritage specific to the Swan Valley region of Western Australia. It was commissioned to recognize the region’s traditional owners, the Whadjuk Noongar people, and acknowledge their enduring connection to the area.

The artwork features native plants such as wattle and kangaroo paw found in the Darling Scarp, along with a butterfly representing happiness, encouraging visitors to feel welcomed and to learn more about the region’s cultural heritage.

Calyon, a Pinjarup-Whadjuk woman, created the artwork, drawing inspiration from her family’s artistic traditions.
