Shinju Matsuri Festival

Festivals and Celebrations

21 Aug 2026 to 6 Sep 2026 Annual Event

Immerse yourself in a carnival for the senses at Shinju Matsuri, Japanese for ‘festival of the pearl’, celebrating Broome’s unique multicultural and pearling history since 1970.

Held annually over 17 days in August and September, this iconic festival unfolds across a series of vibrant events showcasing the fusion of flavours, sounds, and colours that define this outback gem.

Shinju Matsuri honours Broome/Rubibi’s diverse tapestry of cultures with a dynamic schedule of events set against the backdrop of crystal-white sands, azure-blue waters, and blazing red cliffs.

Join fellow foodies for the Sunset Long Table Dinner on Cable Beach or immerse yourself in the rhythm of cultural performances at the Carnival of Nations.

Located just a two-and-a-half-hour flight north of Perth, the welcoming Kimberley town of Broome/Rubibi invites you to experience the magic of Shinju Matsuri and discover the essence of Australia’s northwest coast.
