Walls of China

Natural Attractions

Grab your bike or get into your car and travel past captivating scenery at the Walls of China. This unique feature on the southeastern edge of the Lake Mungo lunette makes for one of Australia’s most unforgettable sights.
Setting out from Mungo Visitor Centre, this 10 kilometre trail takes you over the ancient Mungo lakebed to the Walls. You’ll find informative signs explaining the history of the age-old formations. See where rain has washed away the soft sand and mud of the lunette, creating their characteristic ridges and cracks.
Take your time on the ride to fully appreciate these spectacularly-shaped sand and clay dunes, carved over thousands of years of erosion. For an alternate view of the iconic formation be sure to visit Mungo lookout.
