Mogareeka Inlet

Natural Attractions

Mogareeka Inlet is a favourite swimming, kayaking and fishing spot in Tathra, offering access to the flat waters and tidal sand spits of the Bega River Mouth.

The Bega River system provides extensive fishing opportunities from land and sea. Bait fishermen can try their hand at lure and fly-fishing, with Blackfin, Yellowfin, Bream, Dusky Flathead, Jewfish, Whiting, Mullet, Tailor, Estuary Perch, Bass and Luderick caught regularly throughout the year.

There are excellent areas to pump nippers and bloodworms or catch poddy mullet for Flathead, as well as dip netting for prawns on dark nights over summer.

Mogareeka Inlet has a one-lane boat ramp, barbeque, picnic area, amenities and a children’s park.

The northern end of Tathra Beach is located just across the sand dunes, popular for surfers and swimmers.

From Tathra, head north on Andy Poole Drive. It’s a six-kilometre drive from the top of town.
