Robertson’s ‘Big Potato’ becomes ‘Pig Potato’ to celebrate 30 years of movie Babe.

Robertson’s “Big Potato” has swapped its starchy roots for a cinematic twist, transforming into the “Pig Potato” to celebrate 30 years since the beloved film Babe was shot on family farms in the area.

Painted by Corrimal artist Samuel Hall, the iconic landmark now features Babe, Ferdinand the duck, and the three singing mice from the Oscar-nominated film — bringing a playful dose of nostalgia and community pride to Robertson.

Background – Australia is home to a long list of ‘big things’, with Robertson’s Big Potato only one of approximately 150 sculptures and large structures of this ilk scattered throughout the country. Showcasing the main crop of the area, the giant spud was built in 1977 and measures around 10 metres long and four metres wide. Designed with a hollow interior, you can actually enter the attraction – inside, it has been painted to look like a mashed potato.
