Mary River National Park

National Parks and Reserves

Just over an hour’s drive from Darwin, Mary River National Park offers year-round access to some of the Top End’s richest wetlands and forests. Freshwater billabongs, paperbark stands and monsoon jungle provide outstanding opportunities for wildlife watching, fishing, bushwalking and photography.

Head to the Shady Camp viewing platform to spot large saltwater crocodiles in their natural habitat. Explore Bird Billabong and its walking trail, visit the peaceful viewing platform at Mistake Billabong, or stop at Couzens Lookout for sweeping views and unforgettable sunsets. Brian Creek Monsoon Forest offers a glimpse into a lush, shaded habitat that contrasts sharply with surrounding savanna woodlands.

The park is equipped with toilets, boat ramps, information shelters and historical markers.
