Black Point Culture Centre

Galleries, Museums and Collections

Located at the Black Point Ranger Station, the Black Point Culture Centre offers visitors a unique insight into the rich and layered history of the Cobourg Peninsula.

The centre features displays on Aboriginal culture, including traditional bush tucker, tools and artefacts, alongside evidence of early Macassan trading and the story of European settlement at Victoria Settlement. A more recent exhibit shares the incredible story of an Indonesian fisherman who was blown across to Australia in his canoe, now on display at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory in Darwin.

To visit the Black Point Culture Centre, you must enter Garig Ganuk Barlu National Park. Permit fees apply, and it is recommended to book in advance, particularly during school holiday periods.
