Coral Canyons Heron Island

Coral Canyons is a marine site on Heron Reef near Heron Island that showcases the reef’s underwater terrain and abundant sea life. It is one of several world-class dive and snorkel locations around the island and is known for its series of shallow canyons that cut into the edge of the reef.

The canyons are filled with tropical fish, turtles and reef sharks, and provide a dramatic underwater landscape for snorkellers and divers. Along the coral ridges, groups of reef squid are often seen hovering in the clear water, shifting colour as they move.
