Walkabout Creek Hotel

Landmarks and Buildings

G’day! Welcome to the iconic Walkabout Creek Hotel, one of Outback Queensland’s most famous pubs.

Established in 1900, originally known as the Federal Hotel, it became world-renowned after featuring in the classic Australian film Crocodile Dundee, with the original movie bar donated by producer John Cornell.

Relocated to its current position overlooking the Landsborough Highway in 1996, the hotel remains the heart of McKinlay, with local family and graziers, Angus and Jo purchasing the pub in 2025 ensuring its lasting legacy.

The Walkabout Creek Hotel is a true-blue country pub serving cold drinks, meals, hearty hospitality and authentic Outback character.

Accommodation includes single rooms plus powered and unpowered caravan and camping sites.
