Bell’s Big Blade

Landmarks and Buildings

Western Downs is home to two fully operational wind farms at Coopers Gap and Dulacca. Take this opportunity to view a wind turbine blade up close and understand the enormity of these wind turbines. The Big Blade can be viewed at Bell Memorial Park on the Bunya Highway / Dennis Street, Bell.

Weighing in at a whopping 22,339kgs and around 67m in length, the ‘Big Blade’ was donated by Tilt Renewables. The ‘Big Blade’ celebrates the diversity of the region’s energy sector, which includes wind, solar, coal, gas, and battery.

Western Downs Regional Council partnered with Coopers Gap Wind Farm and its owner Tilt Renewables to install the wind turbine blade as a regional attraction that encourages visitors to stop and learn more about the Western Downs’ status as the Energy Capital of Queensland.
