Goolwa History Centre and Museum

Galleries, Museums and Collections

A branch of the National Trust of South Australia, the Goolwa museum houses an extensive collection of artefacts relating to early Goolwa, Currency Creek and Hindmarsh Island including Australia’s first mobile home.
Goolwa is situated at the mouth of the River Murray and is Australia’s only inland port. It is the town where the booming river trade of the mid 19th Century started and was a major shipbuilding centre for steamers working on the river.
The museum is self supporting and is run by volunteers.
It is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1.30pm – 4.00pm.
