‘Heaven’ Clifftop Viewpoint

Referred to as ‘Heaven’ by locals, this clifftop viewpoint above Habel’s Bend provides a vantage point to look out along the Murray River. Directly across the river is Katarapko Island, part of the Murray River National Park, and to the right is the Loxton Riverfront Holiday Park. Habel’s Landing, a popular houseboat mooring spot, is visible to the left.

The viewpoint area is spacious and features shade structures, seating and lighting.

A ‘Peace Pole’ marker, part of the international movement to spread the message “May Peace Prevail on Earth” is planted at the site. It is one of more than 500 across Australia and 250,000-plus worldwide.

The staircase access from Habel’s Bend below, via the Big 4 Caravan Park, is reasonably steep with moderate fitness levels required to complete the track.

Access is also available by car from the Kingston Road via a dirt track.
