Dean Nicolle Eucalypt Walk

The Blyth Community has completed another attractive walking/cycling trail commencing at the northern edge of Blyth township beside Rail Corridor Road.

The Dean Nicolle Eucalypt Walk is part of the Wool/Rail trail and follows the old railway line north of Blyth to Poysden Road.. This 4.4km return walk is a Blyth Progress Association initiative with over 2,000 trees lining the walk (supplied from Ian Roberts’ Unique Natives at Medika nursery) and including almost 300 species of Eucalypts (commonly known as Gum Trees), with 200 species having naming signage. Planting took place from 2010 to 2018.

Completed in 2025, apart from the individual tree signs, there are three information boards: the first at the commencement of the walk, and the second with photos and history of the adjacent railway yards. The third is about halfway and includes details on local crops, soils, and more.
At the halfway point, a seat has been placed to take in views of the Hummocks & Barunga Ranges to the west.

Please note that the trail is not suitable for motorbikes, horses, or vehicles. Best times of the year to enjoy this walk – all day April to October, mornings or evenings November to March.
