Marine Education Centre – Low Head Lighthouse Precinct

Galleries, Museums and Collections

Adjacent to the beautiful Low Head lighthouse in the “Old Quarters” building (c. 1830) you will find the Marine Education Centre. The facility was established and is maintained by volunteers.

The centre gives people of all ages the opportunity to learn about and care for the marine environment.

View the static displays which amongst many, include a crab bigger than a penguin, a majestic White-bellied Sea Eagle, a soaring Shy Albatross and a whale tooth.

The 14 Tasmanian lighthouses are featured and include a lighthouse puzzle.

The centre is open 11:30-12:30 each Sunday to coincide with the sounding of the foghorn.

At other times small groups or school classes are welcome. Please phone the Low Head Pilot Station Maritime Museum 03 638211443

Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.
