Redwater Creek Railway

Galleries, Museums and Collections

Redwater Creek Steam and Heritage Society operates steam train rides at the Sheffield Steam and Heritage Centre in Sheffield. Every month on the first full weekend.

Experience rail travel from yesteryear to the original restored Sheffield railway station. A restored Krauss steam loco pulling rebuilt heritage carriages runs every half hour from 1100 until 1600 on Saturday and Sunday. While there you can also take a look at the vintage machinery, there is usually someone to take you through the shed and answer questions.

On the weekends they’re open, and the Model Railway is open too – take the kids to watch the little trains go around the lovely layout the model club members have created. A Miniature Railway also operates subject to the weather and the availability of the train crew.

Redwater Creek Railway’s Coffee Shop has a Tasmanian Barrel wood heater keeping everyone nice and cosy in the winter. You can order a hot chocolate or freshly brewed coffee, take it on the train with you, or sit for a while in our cafe to drink it and have a chat.

Private events such as weddings, birthdays and group visits can be accommodated by arrangement.
