The Colour Bridge by Skunk Control
Things To Do Porepunkah, Alpine, Victoria
The picture-perfect six kilometre rail trail ride from Bright to Porepunkah’s Riverside Park just got even better with the addition of The Colour Bridge.
The installation involves stunningly stylised, colourful wildflower-like pieces that hug the path in a repeating pattern, evoking the changing seasons. By day, transparent panels cast vibrant colours on the path, and by night, integrated lighting creates a magical glow. The theme for this site, Ever New, captures the restorative feeling of the Alpine Shire region.
Bringing this vision to life is Skunk Control, a Melbourne-based creative collective known for blending art with science and technology. Comprised of engineers, scientists, and educators, the group specialises in large-scale works that use light and optics to foster a sense of wonder. By weaving their signature technological flora into the trail, Skunk Control has created a bridge that speaks to the unique, interconnected ecosystem of the region, shining a light on the rare and often unseen species that call this place home.
The Colour Bridge is a part of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail Enhancements Project, a project introducing a series of must-see moments designed to make the trail more engaging, accessible and shareable than ever before. The public art installations are part of a curated journey featuring world-class installations that celebrate local stories interpreted by Victorian artists.
