An array of museums, historical societies and heritage trails scattered throughout the region tell tales of their Indigenous, goldrush, farming and timber history that will leave you fascinated and looking for more.

Guided by Hamilton Hume and William Hovell in 1824, the Yea township was surveyed and laid out in 1855 by Surveyor Thomas Pinniger. While the Aboriginal people who inhabited the Yea area for tens of thousands of years prior to European settlement were guided by a rich spiritual culture finely in tune with the land.
