Located just outside Halls Creek, China Wall is a striking natural formation of white quartz that winds through the landscape like a miniature version of the Great Wall of China.
Accessible via a short drive along Duncan Road, the site sits near Old Halls Creek, around 15 minutes from the current township. Old Halls Creek was the site of the region’s original gold rush, and visitors can explore remnants of the historic settlement alongside this unique geological feature.
The wall rises from the creek bed and follows the ridgeline for kilometres, its bright white quartz contrasting with the red Kimberley landscape. It’s a popular spot for photography, particularly in the soft light of early morning or late afternoon. At the base, a shaded creek provides a peaceful place for a picnic and, when conditions allow, a refreshing swim.
Camping is available at Old Halls Creek, making it a convenient overnight stop for travellers journeying between Broome and Kununurra.
