Timeless craftsmanship in the heart of Guildford, Western Australia.

At Guildford Jarrah, artisan Michael Smith has been handcrafting bespoke furniture from his courtyard studio in historic Guildford for over 21 years. With a passion for traditional woodworking and a keen eye for detail, Michael creates timeless pieces designed to last a lifetime.

Step into Michael’s showroom in the charming Ethel Street Courtyard—just off James Street—and discover a unique selection of handcrafted mirrors, cabinets, wine racks, dining tables, and occasional tables. Each item is a testament to quality craftsmanship and natural beauty.

Looking for something custom? Bring your ideas and dimensions, and Michael will craft a one-of-a-kind piece tailored to your space and style.

Michael works with a variety of Australian hardwoods, including Sheoak, Blackbutt, and Western Australian Jarrah, as well as rare and character-rich timbers like Wandoo, Tuart, and Silky Oak. He also sources reclaimed Jarrah for sustainable, eco-conscious creations, finishing every piece with natural oils and waxes to highlight the timber’s unique grain and warmth.

The showroom also features an eclectic collection of bric-a-brac and pre-loved treasures—perfect for those who appreciate character, charm, and a touch of nostalgia.
