Guildford’s 10th Light Horse Statue

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

The Guildford 10th Light Horse statue commemorates the 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment and its deep historical ties to the Guildford area, where the regiment was raised at the onset of World War I. Many of the young troopers who joined were born, educated, lived, or worshipped in Guildford.

Unveiled on 12 March 2023, the statue honours the men of all ages, races, and backgrounds who served together as equals in the 10th Light Horse Regiment. It stands as a tribute to their courage and the legendary bond between trooper and horse.

This monument not only commemorates those who served in World Wars I and II, but also recognises the service of the interwar militia and the modern 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment.

Created by artist Charles Robb, the sculpture is located in Stirling Square, Guildford. It depicts a Light Horseman and his horse emerging from the Helena River, symbolising the origins of the regiment at the nearby Guildford Depot.
