Double Island Point

Natural Attractions

Discover the wild beauty and rich history of Double Island Point, a stunning coastal headland in the Cooloola section of Great Sandy National Park.

Despite its name, Double Island Point isn’t an island but a scenic sand spit crowned by twin dunes that appear as separate landforms from the sea. Located between Rainbow Beach and Noosa, this remote day-use destination offers turquoise waters teeming with marine life, making it ideal for surfing, snorkelling, and wildlife watching. While camping isn’t permitted at the point itself, nearby Cooloola Recreation Area provides a range of camping options. A steep but rewarding walk to the historic 1884 lighthouse rewards visitors with panoramic views stretching from K’gari (formerly Fraser Island) to the southern coastline. Along the way, you may spot dolphins, turtles, manta rays, and during the cooler months migrating humpback whales.

Plan your day trip and experience the breathtaking views and coastal magic of Double Island Point.
