McKenzies Landing

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

McKenzie’s Landing, is a large square wooden platform that can be seen in the water on the drive to Denial Bay, 14 kms west of Ceduna.

Prior to the Denial Bay Jetty being built, this landing was used to load and unload goods from the visiting ships. At low tide the landing could be reached by horse and cart, with produce being loaded on to the platform. As the tide returned small rowboats, called lighters, from the sailing ships would gather the local produce and deposit passengers and incoming stores on the landing ready for pickup.

For those interested in Australian history, especially shipping history, this is a must see as is the nearby McKenzies Ruins.
